Easter Sunset, Pensacola Beach Cross

This cross, marking what is believed to be the location of the first religious mass in the new world, was installed on this dune in the 1940's, and has withstood every hurricane since that time. I captured this image on the Easter following Hurricane Ivan, the strongest winds of which made landfall at about this location. A large format true panoramic camera was used for this image, enabling the highest resolution prints possible. Standard framing style includes double matting of off-white, and wood frame with walnut-brown stain.
